projects

I have been a bit busy this week it seems.  I completed 3 different things, now please note that none of these projects took that long.

1st I made some super simple birthday cards for my cousin and a friend. I got the idea from something I saw on pinterest- I really do spend too much time on that site. Here are the cards- just a simple happy birthday with some washi tape candles. DSCF0774

I love sending a handmade card. I really think that can just make someone’s birthday.

Next I finally completed the edging to the embroider pillow that me and goose made. I really like it, but the edging seems to turn. No worries- it is just for the goose.

Super Cute I think! It was a total me design from the embroidery to the edging. I just drew out the skull and goose’s name and then I made up the rest of the embroidery. as I went For the edging, I blanket stitched around the edge of the pillow and then made 1 layer of SC then a layer of dc and then a picot around. I have always liked the beauty and simplicity of the picot edge. It is really by default one.

Next I completed the first thing for my friend upcoming birthday. Headband number 1. I like how it turned out, but I may sew up the end the complete it. Right now it is buttoned, but I don’t think that works too well. It doesn’t seem to lay right. I found the pattern on ravelry, but the link is here. It was super easy if you know how to do cables. If not you may want to practice first. now I am not the best knitter and I did have to take out a few rows and this finished one was my second attempt, but I am very please. Also I made it this AM, it only took about 2 hours start to finish. Yes I was up at 730 this AM and will probably want a nap this afternoon.

Now can my productiveness continue into next week? We shall see.

So a lovely lady that I work with is leaving for a new job working from home. About a month ago I found this website with totally funky and punky embroidery patterns located here. It is really cool, the style is a little bit old school tattoo and punk rock. I heart it.

So this is the site I got my home sweet home embroidery pattern from… Did I post it? Hmmm…

Anyway. This site has a cute pattern that says cubicle sweet cubicle which I thought would be great for the girls at work, but at last we are no longer in cubes. So this was the inspiration for this particle project.

I hand embroidered a lovely little thing that says sweet home office. I pulled in some elements for the home sweet home project and some from the cubicle sweet cubicle pattern and then added some of my own touches. I do have to say I love it, no really LOVE IT!!!

Now the back…

My lighting was not that good last night. I need to get a light box for photographs…

Moving on. I made it into a little wall hanger thingy. I did this by cutting a piece of cardboard to fit in the hoop, hot gluing the actually embroider piece around the cardboard and then hot gluing a piece of fabric to the back. The back fabric bunched so I added the ric rac to cover it. Then I added some ribbon to hang it.

So lovely. I think I want to embroider for a while. Just maybe….

So, I have had a couple of birthdays within the last month and the next. And as I always make all my gifts, I have made my gifts for them.

I made a couple sets of granny square slippers. The pattern is from . I truly do love that site. They are super easy. You really just make about 6 squares for each slipper.

I used so bits and bobs of leftover yarn. I do love the yarn ball collection that I have. For one set, I used I love this yarn in black tweed, red, and cream. The lovely young lady that are for loves the Atlanta Falcons and these are there colors. They turned out pretty cool.

Lovely…

So for the second pair, I choose some pretty wild colors… neon green, neon orange, and mulberry purple. They are for another lovely young lady at work. Again I used some bits and bobs of yarn and they were all i love this yarn. These are quite fantastic…

Lovely…

Now just what to do for my next project. I think that I am going to make a cowl for me and possibly a stadium blanket for the Atlanta Falcons fan. She is alway cold and I think it would be very nice. I guess I need to go get some yarn for that.

Other things… work is great. we have moved offices and are now downstairs in our own suite. It is great. We need to get a few things for the exam rooms and lab, and my office furniture is not there yet, but it is nice. I am diligently working on the craft room. The paint we had is not the color I was expecting so now the curtains I had plans and accent color will not work. I need to rethink the colors. I have about half painted the room. The goose is running a fever and not feeling well so I am sitting with him and typing while he is watching spongebob. I hope he feels better tomorrow I would like to finish the room.

…. later

so a life long dream of mine has been to have a craft room. and since mom didn’t want to move, I am converting the computer room into a craft/ computer/ guest room. it is a total process and taking a minute… my mother is a pack rat and there was all kinda if shit it the room and kinda still is.

anyway, mom cleaned out the closet and I put up shelves in it and put the yarn up. I think we have too much yarn. now please note that this is mom’s and my yarn, so it’s kinda a lot…

more yarn…

and more yarn…

also note that there are a few bins on the floor with yarn balls (bits and bobs of yarn), baby yarn, and all my cotton yarn. and i think there is one shelf that was not in the picture. I think we have too much. I guess I never knew how much we had due to all the crap in that room and the yarn being all over the place.

now that closet is pretty big and I had intended my fabric to go in it, as well as more craft supplies. now that the yarn is up, I need to rethink the design of the room.

next up painting… after the shelves in there are cleaned out…

I know I haven’t been here in a while. It seems life has just gotten away from me…

I began my new job back in April. I love it. I am going to be running the place before long. My boss wants to prompt me to senior crc but since I have only been there a short while I have to wait. No problem since that is what I want and I can wait for it. She does want me to be manager like. What does that mean? I do not know.

Over the last few weeks our doctor has been absolutely crazy… And by that I mean WTF CRAZY! hopefully he calms down soon, I really can’t take much more of the second guessing and overall bad attitude.

Work is extremely busy as well. There is alway something to do always. And it not hard, just flat out busy.

I also have been trying to clean more at home. Which I think I gave up on about 2 weeks ago. That has really affected my crocheting and crafting activities.

I have complete the birthday presents for my best friends. It totally sucks that their birthdays are like a week apart. And it doesn’t help that I always forget until the last minute. They turned out really cute. I crocheted to bags, one for each of them. MMM says I should really sale my creations, but I still hate etsy, so what to do….

I have worked on the notso baby blanket a bit and only have 3 more colors to do. It just takes so long to do a row. I don’t like big projects, but I think I am tired out of the little ones so big projects it must be from now on.

I have been knitting a scarf, yea I said knitting. It has pockets and looks like a sock monkey. When I am done I am going to knit a sweater. I guess it is about time I become a knitter as well.

Life has been good.

My car is a piece. It keeps breaking and within 1 week I spent about $1000 to get it fixed. At least I have AC. It seems to be okay now I think I have about 6 months before something else goes wrong. I should really write GM a letter. I love the car so much… It just hates me.

Nana needs to retire. I think her work is literally killing her. It breaks my heart. I want her around forever, but her health is not that great right now. Her muscles have been hurting. She has been on statins forever and I think they may have caused some issue. Her doctor sucks. She went one day because of the muscle pain and they didn’t ever check CPK levels or any blood work. Really something could be really wrong. She stopped the meds, but really hasn’t been the same since.

My goose turn 5 at the beginning of the summer. And at the age of five he decided he wants to be a super hero all the time. He only has a batman costume so that is what he wears. I have bought some fabric to make him a spiderman costume and a super Moussa costume. He is just too much!

My goose also decided that he wants to move to NYC. And since that is a dream of mine, I think we will. Now I just need to find a job. I would like to be there next summer. I think OHM is going to move back, so we need to be by dad.

OHM went to court finally and the deportation status has been lifted. He can apply for work papers and in 2 years citizenship. It is really good for the goose.

We had a summer of traveling. I need to get the pics off my camera and up. Maybe tonight I’ll work on that.

And that has been life lately…

So I am continuing with the hats it seems. I did make a goal this year to complete all the projects I had listed in my notebook to do. So that being said, I completed the first project listed, an owl hat for my goose.

I think this maybe a lofty goal, but I think I can I think I can. There are probably 50 projects and some are knitted sweater or blankets.

Okay so that hat. It is from a booklet I have called “Crazy Kids Caps” and the title of the hat is called “wise owl”. I believe the booklet is by Redheart supersaver yarns. I did not use the yarns suggests as I usually do not. I used some stuff I had previously purchased and am not really too fond of, but they work great for the hat.

The yarns were: Bernat Satin in sable, this was the main body of the hat. The other yarns were all Vanna’s choice in taupe, mustard and cream (I think I do not have the paper thingy that comes on the yarn). The colors worked well for the hat.

I followed the pattern mostly, but it seemed a bit too small for the giant head of my little one, so I added 2 more increasing rows. When it was done it did fit on my head, but it was a bit short. It should be perfect for the little one.

The hat is an owl. It seems I have this thing that my child must have an animal shaped hat on his head at all times. He usually doesn’t keep the hats on, maybe the animal theme is why. Damn, I am already embarrassing my four-year old. Oh well! He does love when I make him things….

So the hat turned out super cute, but that is not the only thing I have done all week. I also completed another Katy Cap for a coworker and made an infinity scarf to match.

I followed that hat pattern again, but left out the baubles, I just did the front posts. I also used a J hook and it fit much better so no increases or anything. The hat I think might be one of my new favorites to make. I also did not add any buttons or anything. I really did not feel that this one needed any.

I use one of my favorite brands of yarn Vanna’s choice, in eggplant. I discovered this bold deep purple in making of some wrist warmers that are still not done, but I have fallen in love with this color. I used about 3 skeins, all of 2 and a little of one.

For the scarf, I just chained about 200 stitches and then dc in the first row and dc in the back loop for next 9 rows. Total of ten rows. When I was done, I sewed in all ends and then sewed the ends of the scarf together to make it round. Now in the process of making my rows, I did mange to make the ends angle. When it was all sewed together it was just fine. I actually really love the scarf and may make one for me as well. It did not take as long as I thought it was going length of time of a project always deters me, but at last I am still trucking along on the Notso baby Blanket for the goose.

I really do hope my coworker like her hat and scarf. I actually think she will love them and I might have to make alot more.

MUST FINISH BLANKET FIRST!!!!!
